The challenge

Common governance gaps for eu ai act compliance organisations deploying AI.

Unsure whether your systems are high-risk

EU AI Act Annex III defines eight high-risk domains. If your AI systems operate in recruitment, education, healthcare, public services, or law enforcement, they are likely classified as high-risk.

No Risk Management System documented

Article 9 requires a documented Risk Management System identifying, estimating, and mitigating risks throughout the AI lifecycle. Most organisations do not have this formalised.

Staff AI literacy not evidenced

Article 4 requires deployers to ensure staff operating or overseeing AI have appropriate AI literacy. This obligation has been in force since 2 February 2025 and most organisations have no training records.

Regulatory obligations

EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689)UK GDPRICO AI Guidance

EU AI Act Article 9 requires providers and deployers of high-risk AI systems to establish and maintain a documented Risk Management System throughout the AI lifecycle. Article 4, which has been in force since 2 February 2025, requires organisations to ensure staff have sufficient AI literacy. Full compliance for Annex III high-risk systems is required by 2 August 2026.
